A Darker Shade Of Grey

I've posted my beautiful female grey wagtail a couple of times, this is her dapper mate Christian. He is a much darker grey on his head than she is and has a lovely black beard and a white moustache. As you can see he's a good provider, his beak is full of tasty grubs for their brood.

I have been shooting speckled wood butterflies doing their courtship flight/dance and a drone fly that constantly wanted to hover just above my head.

I took the camera down the field at 7:00 pm and got a chiff-chaff and a wren in the lovely golden hour light.
