Oak Eggar Moth Caterpillar

Beautiful morning, up bright and early,oh to be out and about but that would have to wait.
The lads arrived to start work on the kitchen. When it got too much we left them too it and walked up the cycle path. It was so good to be out in the sunshine though the chill wind kept things a little cool.
Spring has certainly sprung. Most of the ducks on the pond were drakes, the chiff-chaffs were singing their hearts out with the occassional willow warbler, black cap and cettis warbler joining in. sheep with their lambs were in the meadow. We were hoping to do a butterfly count but it was only as the wind dropped that we started seeing a few.
Speckled wood, small tortoiseshell, various flying whites, peacocks; an easily identifable male orange tip, a little later a female OT settled on a leaf, eventually a female holly blue. Not brilliant but a start. We stopped for lunch and then thought we had better wonder back & see if the kitchen was still standing. On the way I spied this wonderful oak eggar moth caterpillar.
I could go into details but lets just say they had gutted the kitchen including taking up half the concrete floor which they were now in the process of relaying.
