fleeting visions

Camouflage

At first look, there is no life in the garden. It's brown. Even with the leaves, broken branches and other winter detritus raked away, there's not much to see. Unless, that is, you look carefully, and patiently. Here, look - something green - these are the daylily shoots, already pushing through the ground. And there, on the left, a reddish root where the rhubarb is awakening. And watch, there's a song sparrow, beautifully camouflaged amongst the pine needles and leaves, patiently gleaning supper from the seeds dropped from the bird feeder above. New life is all around!
