Checky Fantail.

At first there was only one Fantail fluttering around the deck railings. Good thing there are plenty of spider webs for them to get the insects out of. It was ducking and diving all around the place, landing on the rails, then off again. Whisky (our big fluufy cat) was sitting on the outdoor table watching it with great interest. I managed to get several photos of this one while it was having fun. It had just landed, but didn't stay on the railing for long.
Then a Bell bird started singing out in the manuka tree, and I got a couple of that too.
Not long after, I wondered what the dogs were barking at, as they were tied to the pole of the veranda (so they don't run away). There were now three Fantails, diving around the place. They seem to take delight in getting close to the dogs, and Whisky was now on the bonnet of the car that was parked along side the veranda, watching very carefully. Seems like the break in the wet weather has brought out the birds.
We did go out in the boat to go fishing, but had no sooner got over to the mussel farm, than we got a phone call for PJ to take come people on a cruise. So it was back home again. At least Craig and I got lunch, and Craig had a big sleep.
We must have a wasp nest near the house, as there has been at least a dozen of them that have been inside on the windows today. Let's put it like this – they didn't get to fly back out again.
