Living in Brabant

Underneath the arches

The local county museum has been extensively renovated, and mum hadn't yet been there, so we all toddled along for a morning out.

This beautiful circular room is on the second floor, mum used to work for the Archaeological Society, and her office was situated two floors below this room. It must have been a glorious place to work in. Here she is, looking out the window and reminiscing.

This afternoon we all went to see dad in the home.
It was heartbreaking to see him in there, he's still pretty lucid, if at times a little muddled, and just wants to go home. In the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, he needs constant care, and mum just can't supply that care at her age.
I left with mixed feelings, but I hope our visit cheered him up (he was happy chatting to R about his time in National Service).
