Rainbow Bridge at Night

The Rainbow Bridge is an over 700 metre long suspension bridge linking central Tokyo to Odaiba, the large artifical island in Tokyo Bay. The towers supporting the bridge are white and are illuminated at night in different colours using solar energy stored up during the day. There is a pedestrian walkway leading over the bridge, so we took the metro to the closest terminal and walked across to Odaiba. Unfortunately it started raining, but after a friendly Japanese gentleman gave us his umbrella as he was getting into his car (umbrellas don't cost much more than a newspaper in Japan, but the gesture was still much appreciated) we walked around Odaiba until it got dark, to see the bridge in its full glory. The streaks of light are evening cruise ships sailing past.
