Fairport Lighthouse

This lighthouse and keepers dwelling, located on a hilltop overlooking Lake Erie, was built in 1871 to replace an earlier one build by Jonathan Goldsmith in 1825. It was decommissioned in 1925. According to the historical marker at the site, it served Great Lakes' shipping for its most important 100 years and guided many settlers who migrated to the Connecticut Western Reserve, the area that later became the state of Ohio. It also happens to be located really near one of our favorite fish houses, and that's where we headed after the blip stop for perch, crab cakes, and a glass of wine...the end of a really busy day!
