Brick Train

Before leaving my mother's for a 190 mile drive to spend the rest of the Easter weekend with Clare's dad I called in at Darlington's brick train.

Commemorating Darlington's heritage as "home of the railways", the sculpture by David Mach is made from 185,000 bricks. At 60 metres long and 6 metres high, it is based on the locomotive "Mallard"which set the world steam speed record speed in 1938.
