Sunset over Figsbury Ring

The sun sinks again,
Still the ancient heartbeat throbs,
At each days glory.

Another beautiful day in Salisbury, this time the theme was hill forts ... first to Figsbury Ring then on to Old Sarum, then back to Figsbury where we caught the sunset...

There's nothing much at Figsbury just the remains of the earthworks and a couple of trees, but there's the "big sky" feel of being on top of the world and being to survey the countryside around, and the delicious view of Salisbury Cathedral's elegant spire in the distance.

Watching the sun go down, I thought how many others had witnessed that same spectacle from this place ..... there's such a strong sense of the presence of the past in these hills.

... to be continued....

still catching up ...!
