Easter in the Cathedral

The great doors swing wide,
With incense and flowing robes ,
The ritual begins.

We met with SarumStroller again, to go to the Easter service in the Cathedral .... not quite sure what to expect, or how much unintelligible mumbo jumbo we would need to endure. The service was actually very uplifting and beautiful.

It's hard to match the theatre of the rituals of our great cathedrals .... the standing congregation turned to see the main cathedral doors open and the white light flooding in. From the light emerged figures clad in fine and flowing robes with the censer spreading incense before them.

Our blip trigger fingers were itching to grab the shot, but decorum prevailed. There followed singing with great gusto and a a general feeling of goodwill to all and sundry ....

Afterwards we grabbed a much needed bucket of coffee and then wandered around the cathedral taking shots ....

I am slightly cross I didn't move a centimetre and get this shot properly centralised... never mind. Also I chopped off the top of the arch due to being too short to get the right angle - Sarumstroller did offer to take the shot from higher up ... but I felt that was kind of cheating .... although in his hands it would've no doubt been a better picture!

One more from this trip still to come ....
