You're Alarmed Aren't You Stretch?

Not a good day for photography, dull and wet for the most part.

I went out with the camera this evening and found many of these spiders sitting in the middles of their droplet-bedecked orb webs.

As soon as they became aware of my presence they retreated in alarm to the perimeters of their webs and adopted this characteristic stance.

I think they are common stretch spiders. It made me laugh when I discovered this as I have an arachnophobic mate whose nickname is Stretch. :)
