Hammersmith Apollo/Odeon

It opened in 1932 as the Gaumont Palace Cinema. Designed in art deco by Robert Cromie who had also designed the rebuilt Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. It is listed as Grade II* due to the extent of it's original intact art deco features.

It became the Hammersmith Odeon in 1962, and since 1993 it has been named the '[x] Apollo' depending on who is sponsoring it.

It's been in two films: The Smallest Show on Earth in 1956, and in Just My Luck in 2006 as the venue where McFly perform.

Many famous music acts have appeared here from Buddy Holly in 1958, to The Beatles, Bowie's final concert as Ziggy Stardust, Blondie, Alice Cooper and Kylie Minogue. Kate Bush's first live show for two decades will be here in August and September 2014.
