Another spring

On Wednesday I featured the local pond and its wonderful marsh marigold at the margins, with not a duck in sight. Today on my walk a couple of drakes were cruising around the pond quite happily, and I took some shots. Then, a couple more birds flew over and landed nearby. An altercation took place, and the upshot was that one drake returned to the water to be joined by a female. So today's blip is a beautiful scene of this pair, march marigolds and vibrant new leaf growth of irises at the water's edge. As a passing walker remarked, this pond is the local dance palais for waterfowl with the guys jostling for the females.
