The fate of the unsatisfactory

If wood had feelings this lump probably felt pretty good about itself starting out as a bit of non-spoon firewood and suddenly finding itself elevated to spoon status. And there were things about it that I liked - the transition from the bowl to the handle looks quite pleasing but I made a bad decision on the handle and it narrows too quickly to a bit of a point, making the whole thing top heavy. It looks and feel unbalanced. Must be a bit of a blow to find yourself non-spoon after all.

This should have been related to Pedal on Parliament but the camera was left a home so the tootle from Ratho to the Meadows, with Mandy on the tandem with Ellen, me with Rusty on the trailer and Ewan having now commandeered Mandy's bike, went unrecorded. To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the whole affair. It's nice that thousands of people turn out and I suppose it's good that it has reached the stage that politicians have to turn up and say something. But it's all a bit flat and too polite.

Still, a nice day to cycle along the canal and back and some nice food at the Bridge Inn. And some nice chats with folk through the day. Met a Mr Blogs and a Mr Sitting.
