St Bernard

Despite the unpromising weather, we decided that a Sunday walk was in order. a bus to Dean Village with the intention of walking home, but we were delighted to see that Dean Gardens were open as part of the Open Gardens Day. I had always wanted to explore the intriguing paths on the opposite bank of the Water of Leith, so £3 each seemed like a bargain.
They are lovely gardens, with very relaxed planting, much of it native species of flowers. Loads of small trees. I imagine the birdwatching would be excellent!
This is St Bernard's Well, which I had never seen from this angle. A medicinal spring which a Georgian gentleman covered with a neo-classical temple. Not sure who the underdressed wumman is, possibly Hygaena.
