Brazen

Totally brazen here!! This little coot on a lake in Chamouille thought it could get away with a spot of nest stealing right from under the nose of this rather larger great crested grebe this morning.

Sidling up from behind it was spotted instantly by the occupant but not to be put off it's dastardly mission it circled ever closer to the des res with a view to acquiring a few household accessories! Grunted and hissed at, it lunged for one of the choicest sticks only to be sent packing in no uncertain terms by mum on her clutch of eggs. After seeing her rival off the grebe did a few household chores, then a bit of egg turning and settled down again for a snooze in the sun - keeping a wary eye on me on the bank!
