exhausteration

What an emotionally draining day today.

Dad had a check-up at the hospital this afternoon because of something that's been making him unwell over the past couple of months, but when examined he was admitted and within a couple of hours he was being prepped for an emergency op to remove a lumpishlyannoyingSOMETHING. The day dragged s l o w l y and by 8pm we were still waiting for him to be trolleyed into theatre, se we had to leave.

I helped get the bed downstairs for Mum (note to self: move the china plant stand off the landing next time you plonker) and readied his makeshift dayroom ready for when he comes home.

The urgency of everything this time is in stark contrast to the anxiety-causing-build-up of what he went through last year. By the time we left the hospital the worry was etched on his face again and he looked drained. We've kind of got our own code of saying goodbye pre-op and hopefully everything will go to some sort of plan tonight and he'll be recovering by the morning and be home in next to no time.

I was supposed to do a slow steady 3 miles tonight but was too knackered when I got home and wanted to spend some time cuddletalking with ladySp33d, so I'll have to try and play catchup tomorrow.
