I brought Dad home today. His surgeon did the op late last night and he was home by 3pm. Remarkable.

There's still a week or so of daily visits from the district nurse to put up with and he's got yet another batch of meds to rattle around his insides, but we're hoping this recovery will be swift. He was a bit confused about what has happened over the past few days and in what order, but assuming the lingerings of the general anaesthetic wear off properly and his wound starts to heal ok he should be allowed to drive again soon and begin looking forward to the summer with gusto.

He looked amazing today, the best I've seen him in a long long time. Hopefully whatever was poisoning him from the inside out has now gone and both him and Mum can let some much needed light back in.
