This Little Piggy....

This little piggy went to market......... well not quite yet, but it won't be long.

Since we were last at Craigie's Farm, the piglets have been separated from their mothers and are all in one big piglet nursery, rooting about in the straw, with food going in one end and coming out the other with unerring regularity.

It is fortunate that they have no idea that bacon rolls are very popular in the adjoining café. The proximity of the end result to these little boisterous piglets is enough to stop my desire to savour any bacon butties.

His Lordship, a vintage vegetarian, has on occasion confessed to having temptation put in his way by the smell of a bacon roll, but not today.

With another cold damp day of wind and drizzle, May has made an inauspicious start. The pavements are carpeted with soggy pink and white blossom fallen prematurely off the trees, and the pedestrians trudging over it are back in winter garb battling with umbrellas.

The heating is on and the thought of salad for supper sends shivers down my back.
