Christmas Rainbow

Veeeeeeerrrrrry relaxing Christmas day. The kids obligingly took their stockings to the spare room so they didn't disturb anyone until 8, then the usual round of breakfast, excitement, the popping of a port cork and then the present frenzy. Conor then spent the next two hours cycling round and round the living room while we tried to figure out how to transform his new transformer toys...

I'm happy to say that despite the box full of 'extras' the bike has not collapsed yet, and he has only crashed once (into the piano) but I think that is not so much to do with any braking problems, but rather that he was distracted by reading a book about dinosaurs at the time.

Nice walk while the turkey overcooked, if a little rainy. Sadly the sprout field we were aiming for had already been harvested, so we had to make do with one sprout each, but there seemed to be plenty of other treats to go around. The Christmas pudding (courtesy of Dad's National Trust pension fund) was delicious despite it's long time under the brandy flames while I tried (and failed) to get a decent photo of it. And even my Christmas cake went down well. Most fun was had recording a new ring tone for my Dad's phone (present from a good friend of mine). It's just him saying "Hello.....hello" but for some reason had us all in stitches. I think you had to be there.

Now the grown ups are battling to stay awake, and the kids are definitely still going strong (buoyed up on chocolate and iPhone game apps). I think they'll be putting us to bed tonight.

And.....re-lax.
