Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

By NannaK

Happy May Day!

Thursday : we had just the girls after school today so we could go to the Burke Museum, and have snacks in their cafe outside where it was HOT! the car said over 90F! The exhibit was a mixture of some of the 15 million items usually hidden away -just like the Natural History Museum we just visited in NY- on a much smaller scale, and they added a tag about their own collections to the wall (here) - stuffies and apps!, (H and I had to do it to - moose and boxes). Hard to pick just one….

After dinner (pancakes and pizza!) we made May baskets and picked flowers (the last of my tulips among them) to bring their Mom for May Day. A nice French neighbor brought us some lilies of the valley and said it was a French custom....I think it must be in many countries! It’s a fond memory of mine from childhood --hanging the basket on the neighbor’s door (might be their own flowers we picked!) ringing the doorbell and running away.

A set from the Island this last week...
