The final touch

Avril Nicol, Volunteer Project Co-ordinator of Forth Valley Open Studios puts the finishing touches to the annual showcase exhibition, which opens tomorrow evening with a private viewing in the Macrobert Arts centre, Stirling.

( She is putting the final adjustment to the work of Lys Hansen, our President).

Now in its fifth year the Open Studios has gone from strength tot strength. It started out as a small group of committed artists determined to put central Scotland on the artistic map.

Well we have achieved that.

Today FVOS is a. C.I.C (community interest company) and from June 7-15 over 140 artists throughout the area will be opening their doors to the public.

Keith Bruce, Arts Editor of The Herald describes it as “ the biggest annual cultural event in central Scotland.”

We are self-financing- no public funding and only very limited sponsorship- and all this is due to the enormous generosity and skill of our volunteer Project Co-ordinator, Avril Nicol.

So, a big “thank-you Avril” from all FVOS artists for once again putting on an excellent cultural event.
