Benenden School

The blue plaque by the front door of the school above reads "HEMSTED The family of Robert of Hemsted who acquired the Manor in 1213 lived here until 1377"

Today I helped organise an orienteering event for children in the grounds of Benenden School. This is girls boarding school in Kent. Princess Anne came here. Today the normal pupils were away for the long weekend and we had the glorious 250 acre grounds to ourselves. The village of Benenden is very old and is mentioned in the Domesday Book
