Harper's Ferry

Decided to have a change of scenery for our morning walk today, seeing as we are competing with numerous baseball teams (and for some reason their burger van which makes the whole park smell like Istanbul!), and their screaming parents who are unable to read and understand what "no parking" means, in Kemptown Park on Saturdays. It's our least favourite day there. Today we did the hike up the overlook at Harpers Ferry instead. The view always remind me of a railway layout in someone's attic! We got there early and it was pretty deserted apart from the odd hiker and the occasional nicely leashed dog. We even managed a few minutes totally alone at the top which is very rare. Of course then four yapping women arrived and one of them asked if the supports for a long gone bridge were for "docking ships". Bwah ha haaaa. Then each of them discussed in detail the symptons and condition of friends with MS, each trying to outdo the other with the severity of their friends condition. The lovely tranquil moment was gone, and it was time to head back down for some fish and chips (and ewwwwww coleslaw) at the bottom. I am always suspicious of signs like "Best fish and chips in Harpers Ferry". Yeah, right, says the cynical me, but it turned out they were!
