The Wandering Falcon
Today we went en masse to the Abingdon Air Show and what a day it was. The weather was superb, in fact a couple of the family without hats got slightly sunburnt.
It was very near impossible to choose a blip tonight, as I did get some good images of planes. The highlight for me was the Spitfire but in the end, I had to pick the Peregrine Falcon, as the fastest member of the animal family on the planet. It is also the most widespread raptor on earth... yet interestingly, New Zealand is the only major ice-free landmass from which it is entirely absent. I would say New Zealanders are really missing out on a spectacular bird. When it descends into it's 'stoop', speeds of up to 242 miles an hour have been recorded.
Hope everyone is enjoying the bank holiday and a big thank you to everyone for sending my 100th blip into the spotlight yesterday. Who would have thought that 100 days ago, I would have a photo in the 'spotlight', elevated there by complete strangers. Certainly not me! I'm loving the Blip Friendships and all your fantastic journals. Thanks so much :-)
