Pallid Swift

Pallid Swift (Apus pallidus)

Standing on the cliff-top mirador overlooking Marbella, we were surrounded by hundreds of Swifts (plus a couple of slightly lost looking House Martins). The Swifts were screaming round us quite clearly having a great time flying at top speed snatching flies on the wing. They would dive past and you could almost feel the pressure on the air as they carved it with their wings to change direction, missing the rocks … and us, by inches.
