Bretzel

German and British Christmas are very different, not least because in Germany our main celebrations take place on Christmas Eve. Waiting another day to open my presents was just not on the cards, while my husband felt weird opening the presents on what was in his eyes a day early. The only obvious solution was to celebrate Christmas twice! Other than opening half of our presents on Christmas Eve (with the other half reserved for Christmas Day), we marked the occasion with a very German meal of Kartoffelsalat, Würstchen and Bretzel.
