The second half of life..

Signs of the times

Hands up if you know what this is?

I'd describe it as a 1990's iPod.

And yes, this was the 'new and improved' model having originated as a cassette tape player some 10 or 15 years earlier.

At work today I received an email from a student who had an issue. She's doing Correspondence School Latin and had just received some work from them including a few CD's. She wanted to know how she was supposed to play the CD's when all the school computers have no disc drives?! Good question. (It's another question altogether to ask why on earth Correspondence School are still using CD's and haven't updated to podcasts/mp3's or some such modern technology. But I digress........)

I contacted the techy guys and they said they'd look into it and hopfully come up with a solution.

It wasn't until later that it occured to me that I still had this wee baby at home (it works - why on earth would I throw it out just because it's old?!). I emailed M back and told her to take some earphones to school tomorrow - I had a solution :) She's in for more than just a Latin lesson when she sees what I've dug out for her. Nevertheless, I think it's going to be a great solution.

Done

G'night.
