Boy meets Girl (almost!)

When browsing the internet for information about yesterday's photo - which turned out to be a sculpture by Andy Scott (of Arria and The Kelpies fame) - I discovered there were two other sculptures by the artist in Cumbernauld. I was only vaguely aware of these beforehand but, intrigued by yesterday's search results, decided to seek them out this afternoon.

Vitruvian Boy was created to enhance a new housing project by the Sanctuary Housing Association - according to the artist: "Vitruvian Boy is based on the Vitruvian Man sketch by Leonardo Da Vinci, who looked at the work of the famed architect Vitruvius which interprets the basics of scale and proportion" - and was joined later by another similar sculpture, Vitruvian Girl, in another part of Cumbernauld and also commissioned by Sanctuary Housing. I've combined both sculptures in a composite photo.

Still trying to get my head around the thought of Leonardo da Vinci having a Cumbernauld connection.
