Paris's Périphérique

It's formally named the Boulevard périphérique de Paris--colloquially called the Périf. It's the ring road around the city which runs basically along the city limits, thus effectively separating Paris from its suburbs. The preceding link is to the English Wikipedia article; for the fun of it, I switched to the French version--it is huge, with 135 footnotes (for example)!

We were on our way to Charles De Gaulle Airport, for our flight back to JFK , from whence we'll drive to Northampton. We're east of the city center, and the signs tell our location: approaching the exit for the Porte de Vincennes, with two minutes to the Porte de Bagnolet. It was Armistice Day in France, and with light holiday traffic our taxi got us to the airport in 3o minutes--some sort of record. We were going full speed with packing and cleaning till we got in the taxi--and it was raining, so this is the best I managed as a blip. We arrived in good shape but exhausted--stay tuned :)
