Moorchick

A wee fluffy moorhen (Galinula chloropus) chick being fed by Mum.
There are usually quite a few eggs hatched, but this one and a sibling seemed to be the only survivors.
My Bird Guide describes the nest as a "roofed basket hidden in dense vegetation", but obviously the Leith moorhens haven't read it, as they build random collections of twigs and water-weed out in the open where the gulls can get at them...
