Fun Run

4years 202days

Well, today has been fab! It was the annual athletics club fun run and 10k. Katie and I ran it last year and she said ages ago she wanted to do it this year. The day arrived and she jumped up to choose her "running clothes". She opted for a Maclaren F1 team Tshirt and navy leggings (because that's what mama had for me!). As the heavens opened torrentially, it became clear a hoody should be added and a puddlesuit put in the bag!

She was excited to arrive and see her cousin & some of the big girls from church. She was then extra excited to see a wee friend of hers, who is a running buddy of mine! She had no need to specifically warm up as she was bouncing around the place like a loon.

We waited until the last minute to gather at the start as it was truly torrential rain but it stopped just at the right moment! She ran every single bit of the race, and her pace was fast enough that I had to run to maintain the same speed. We passed the team mascot without event (she's frightened of him) and we were running behind the hull city team mascot for a while too until she decided to pass him too. She passed her cousin and just kept running. She got so many cheers and so much encouragement from the course marshals- she loved it. "They're really nice mummy! Am I doing amazing?" she said at one point!

With a time of under 15 mins for 2km aged 4, on a very muddy, wet course, I think she pretty much was doing amazing!!

After the race, she ate the contents of her goody bag and had a few photos before we sheltered inside from another downpour. We then headed to town to watch her uncle for his race. We got caught in the next downpour but had a great time cheering all the runners as they approached the last 200m.

A pit stop in the supermarket for warm drinks and we headed home, where one of her little friends has come to play for a short while
