on mother's day

with a picture - taken from her high school graduation - (wasn't she somethin'...) back then they really did 'em up - all formal like - and i love how it turned out - since then - mama has had a very full life - marrying very young - having a boatload of kids - there are 6 of us (although she endured some losses along the way, too) or we'd be more - the typical stuff of everyday life - with raising kids - working - attending functions - surviving vacations - seeing marriages - celebrating grandkids and all the rest - the ups and downs - the roller coaster ride of seeing what you thought life would bring you - and being disappointed when it didn't bring you what you hoped for

yet through it all - mama survived it all - with dignity and grace - optimism and courage - her head held high - she has approached obstacles with strength she's had to dig deep for - she has suffered pain - no one should have to endure - and come out the other side - with her humor intact - and a continued zest for life - we all admire - she may not always be the best in putting into words her love for me - but her actions and fortitude speak volumes - i know, without a shadow of a doubt - she will always be there for me - without question - no hesitation - and that's what matters most - parenting is hard work - she has done a wonderful job over the years - i honor her today - she has made certain - throughout my life - that i have had many...
