The Loneliness of the Nest Bound Incubator

The grebes at Nanpantan Reservoir have selected their nesting platform. Last night, we saw a single egg. The female looked a bit reluctant to sit on it. Too many people around I suppose.

This afternoon she was sitting on the nest in solitary splendour. No sign of the male. Typical.
