No man is an island

No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were:
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.

John Donne

Thank you for all the encouraging comments for yesterday's Arty Choke; continuing in an abstracted vein... the pond has some rather amazing colours at the moment, the lily pads are spectacular red islands floating in a blue sky. No I haven't had any gas and air - see below.

The main news today is that I have survived part 2 of the root canal work and, as many of you wisely told me, it wasn't too bad just a long time with your mouth open. I tried not to look too closely at what was going on. There were things that looked like acupuncture needles: ' the fellas with the wax' as Liz the jolly dentist informed me. The biggest shock was the cost. Hopefully that's that.
