Confusion...

Odd day at work so I decided this evening to research a building I pass regularly

there's some information here - this is a 1913/14 building and is listed but I'm not sure of the listing level given that the outside has modern signage

confusion ensues if you research further based on the cast iron sign ie National Provincial Bank formerly County of Stafford Bank - the date above the door - 1833 refers to National Provincial Bank

and not County of Stafford Bank the name adoted in 1873 for the actual original bank Bilston District Banking company founded in 1836

Anyhows on closer looking most of the carvings are normal but there appears to be an almost satanic goat head above one window and I can't find out why (yet)
