Burnet Companion

This lovely day-flying moth is quite common on the rough grassy slopes of the Chilterns. I feel slightly sorry for it as it is so often disparaged by keen butterfly hunters who, when searching for Dingy Skipper or (more seriously) the rare Duke of Burgundy, will be caught out by a flying Burnet Companion. There may then be an outpouring of expletives aimed at this delightful little moth and it seems it will be forever under-rated in its own right by being associated with the deep disappointment that is a feature of the field lepidopterist. Well, I think it is magnificent!
