Pictorial blethers

The sea, the sea!

A glimpse of the sea at the start of today's walk, a large part of which took us along an ancient aqueduct - much older than Roman times, a Lycian construction from, I think, the third century. Our walk ended at the once important Patara, a Roman port before the sea retreated. The ruins are a jumble of Lycian, Greek and Roman and, dotted in a fairly empty area, are an absolutely impressive sight.

We finished the day with a swim in the waves - too shallow to swim properly , but the waves were exhilarating and the shock amazing.

The view in the pic is from a breach in the pre-Roman aqueduct where the structure has collapsed.

Note: the original blip read nonsensically as I fell asleep in mid-blip!
