Kalte Sophie

Is what today is called in German.

Sophie is the last of the Eisheilige - literally Ice Saints (there are 5 in total; St. Mamertus – 11. May, St. Pancras – 12. May, St. Servatius – 13. May, St Boniface – 14. May and Sophie).

One of the many things I learned today.

Along with:

Germans have no problem taking a bus from one stop to the next, and will quite happily wait for longer than it would take to walk to the next bus stop. I'm considered odd because I walk to my bus stop when I could take a bus for two bus stops and catch the bus at a different bus stop.

Oh and Alfred Hitchcock is considered a cheery, avuncular chap and stories of his very weird behaviour towards Tippi Hedren (and other women) are not at all well known.

And I finally learned what was causing my program to behave so intermittently oddly. Mind you, I found it after 7 hours of profuse swearing so it wasn't all beer and schnitzels.

Good fun at my German lesson tonight - where talked ranged from the Burger King scandal in Germany, to Alfred Hitchcock and finally to Rita Tushingham.

And so, 15 hours after I left the house I hope you can forgive a "I need to blip Something" Blip.

Will catch up tomorrow. For now I want to do nothing and enjoy it.
