A Suffolk Eye

Cordial - again!

So today we went out, temporarily three crocks - viz: old crock, middle-aged crock and young crock - to pick the very first of this year's elderflower blossoms to make the very first of this year's elderflower cordial.

You can, you know. The elderflowers are out very very early this year. See for yourself.

My favourite octagenarian confessed that she had never - in all her puff - picked elderflowers before. Though she is fond of drinking the cordial.

"Something for your bucket list," I suggest.

"Bucket list!" she scoffs. "Bucket lists are for people who have never lived real lives."

But she poses for a picture nonetheless. A cordial elder with the material for elder cordial.

Anyway we pick with such vim and vigour that I now have a good 18 pints of elderflower cordial infusing away in a preserving pan. Recipe here, if you want it!
