Gänschen

Or goslings. German words that end with "chen" don't change in plural. The Definite Article does - it goes from "das" to "die" but it's "das Gänschen" und "die Gänschen".

We had a bit of a Marie Celeste moment here today.

When I came back from my (successful) haircut and shopping trip this morning, I was a bit surprised to see the front door of the house wedged open. Even more so to see the door to a neighbour's flat wide open. I thought OK, they're probably loading up their car and no problem.

An hour and a half later, I went out to mow the lawn. The doors were still open. And their car was gone.

Eek.

Long story short: we don't have any details but 2 hours later and the neighbours are back. They have 2 very young kids and maybe they had to go to the hospital (that's happened before). Spooky situation to find though.

What would you have done?

And as a little respite from such things, here are a pair of very pretty little goslings.
