The Black Isle

Not an Island and not black either, bit apart from that.....

This field ready to be cut for silage would be the envy of a west coast farmer. This area is famous for its fertile soil and good farming land. This picture is taken as the ground rises to the east of Muir of Ord and as we continued on foot a short distance east from here the transformation in ground conditions is quite dramatic, the rich fertile soil giving way to upland peat and heather moorland.
