19.5C and mostly cloudy with a few bright spells. Light breeze.

Before lunch I had two small jobs I wanted to do.

The first was to clear the gutter above our living room window where some sedum like plant material makes an appearance from time to time. Our gutter at this point is not very high thankfully. The design of our roof is such that the gutter is not much higher than I can reach at this point. Some steps or a short ladder are all that is required to have access to the guttering.

The second to cut back a very low growing Hebe at the entrance to our driveway as there are shortly to be footpath works. We were amazed at the mat of growth and soil like material which had bulit up. Apparently the footpath from driveway to road will be replaced for each house, then later in the year some 'treatment' will be made to the whole footpath. Any plants have to be cut back flush with the inner edge of the footpath.

Oh joy ... we have something like 30 yards more of clearing all the plants we have making a nice soft edge where the pavement meets our front border before phase two which is yet to be scheduled.

We took Maeve the Deerhound for the usual walk via bridle path to the beach. I resorted to another pottery fragment shot. When we were walking along the cycle path and again on the beach we saw some dog walkers. Nothing unusual in that, except that one of them was walking ... on a lead ... a lamb !

First salad leaves from the greenhouse today. A flavourful addition to lunch.
