Ashton Court Mansion

A lovely hot sunny day today. Our son and his girlfriend came to meet us at our hotel in Bristol, and then took us for a stroll around parts of the city we had not previously visited.

We started by crossing the Clifton suspension bridge and then walked into the Ashton Court estate, an 850 acre country park with a deer park, woodland, large areas of lovely grassland, and the mansion, part of which is shown here. After a pause for a cooling drink at the cafe, we then continued down the hill towards the city centre, crossing the river (stopping at a riverside pub for a late lunch), past the SS Great Britain and along to the city centre ferry landing, before turning back towards Clifton and finally back to our hotel. A hot but very enjoyable walk.

In the evening we met up again for a drink and an excellent meal.

A lovely day.
