Peaceful Retreat

These old Pohutukawa trees, on the track to the summit of Mt Paku, offer a welcome and shady retreat to hikers to catch their breath and enjoy the view. Today as I climbed to the summit I was not alone. A cat, named Edwina, who resides in one of the local houses decided to accompany me and much to my delight followed me to the top of the mountain and watched with great interest, as I took photos.
