Oot on the toon.

Another day, another library trip. Gotta get through these ferry tickets somehow.

Kelly arrived driving the bus at half past seven and the ferry left Loth at eight. i-pod on, book open (a proper paper one!) and lo and behold we're in Kirkwall. Troubled the kind library people to dig out their 'scuttle and salvage' photographs, which came in six ring binders. Also trawled through the 1920 editions of the Orkney Herald, which yielded very little. I know a little bit more of post-war Frankfurt, the French got a little jumpy, but not really what I was after.

As you can tell, the weather in the am was a bit pants but improved markedly during the day. Popped into Jewson's, which was scary because I'm a DIY cretin. Also visited Jobcentre+, which I probably ought to have done about three years ago. Hit the shops for the stuff I forgot to get last week and then back to the pier for the return boat.

The new Sanday Bus was collected today and arrived on the same sailing. Alas, there doesn't (still) seem to be a rush to bring it into service. My fellow passengers and I were tempted to force the issue by piling our shopping into it before it was loaded on, but we decided against it. All seventeen seats were still in situ, so there was no room for luggage anyway.

We just "Oo!"ed and "Ah!"ed as it passed instead.
