Spent the day at Minsmere today. Had a couple of appointments to be inducted as a volunteer for the RSPB. And that means I will be helping during the time Springwatch is being broadcast in the next 3 weeks.
For those of you who don't know, Springwatch is a programme on BBC television which looks at all aspects of Spring wildlife. It is broadcast live Mon-Thurs, as well as webcams to watch. For the next 3 years it will be based at Minsmere and there is a lot of activity in preparation for the first broadcast next Monday.
In between been stuffed full of information I nipped out onto the reserve and was lucky to watch this fella for over half an hour. Everyone was very excited - lots of people who had never seen a Bittern before.
Minsmere are expecting a big increase in their visitor numbers over the next month so lots more excitement to come.
