Corfe Castle: the Square with Castle

This ultrawide-angle photo gives a horizontal angle of view of about 100 degrees, a little narrower than that enjoyed by persons with binocular vision (i e using two eyes) but a great deal wider than those obtained using the more standard camera lenses.

The Greyhound Hotel, on the opposite side of the Square, is thought to be the most-photographed pub in England. It occupies what were two 17th century houses; its two porches are early 18th century. As is the case with many of the older houses in the village, some of the Greyhound's stonework will have been taken from the castle ruins.

To the right, on the east side of the Swanage to Wareham road, is the Bankes Arms Hotel.
