Pirkkala birch

In 1862 a special variety of birch, the birch of Pirkkala (Betula pendula f. bircalensis) was found by scientists from Pirkkala town. That lobed-leafed birch was a totally new subspecies and it has become one of the symbols of Pirkkala.
