Not a bee...

The azaleas in our garden are in bloom and the bees are having a real feast gorging themselves on the pollen. This morning I spent ages trying to get decent photos of the bees, but whoever coined that phrase 'as busy as a bee' was not kidding. They do not stop flitting from one flower to the other, with endless energy it seems. Whatever they are on I would like to have some of it! So there were no photos of a bee that I was happy with, and instead you get a rather sedentary Schnauzer.

Last night's performance of La Traviata was superb. The stunning costumes, the sets and of course the remarkable voices all made it a wonderful production. Violetta and Alfredo were performed by a married couple, and the chemistry between them was wonderful. However, we so nearly had a disastrous evening. We thought the show started at 7.30pm and at a minute to 7pm we were sitting in a restaurant around the corner having a drink and a snack when Gavin decided to check the tickets to discover that it started at 7pm. We paid the bill and sprinted out of there (not easy in heels) and as we came running into the Royal Opera House the usher started running with us as he took us to our seats. Luckily we were on the aisle and we managed to just sit down as the curtain rose...whew!

Tomorrow I am going to the Photographer's Gallery to see the exhibition of the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize finalists. The exhibition is on until 22 June if anyone is interested.
